As you get stronger, bodyweight squats become too easy and your muscles need more of a challenge. We’ve found a way to make squats harder by doing Tempo Squats. A Tempo Squat is a slowed-down version of the squat, focused on creating as much tension as possible.
This video will show you how to do a Tempo Squat. Count to four as you move down, pausing at the bottom of your squat. Count to four again as you rise back up, remembering to squeeze your glutes at the top without releasing any of the tension. The goal of this glute exercise is to keep constant tension on your muscles. This squat variation for strength creates a metabolic build-up leading to muscle growth.
If you are trying to build your glutes and hamstrings, this is a great bodyweight exercise at home.
**15-20 reps OR 1 minute total. Aim for 3-4 sets**
